Building bridges at Etho protocol

Etho protocol: engineered in California, used worldwide

From the start of the project, the Etho protocol team had an early realization: We can’t build it all. And even if we could, it would not be the best (“jack of all trades, master of none”).

To be successful one needs to be focused. Easily said, but much more difficult in reality when the temptation exists to accomplish so much. Luckily there is one potential way forward to achieve a complete portfolio: Work together with others. This is often the better way as you will be driven by the use cases of others and get new ideas you were not even remotely considering.

This is one of our cornerstones in Etho protocol. We are laying a foundation for others to use and are building bridges and an ecosystem around it.

The foundation

ETHO has strong roots in Ethereum. It has the full functionality of the Ethereum virtual machine, so it can support smart contracts and dapps. The big difference between Etho Protocol and all other crypto projects out there is: Etho Protocol supports nodes to offer decentralized content realized via IPFS in conjunction with this virtual machine.

And this is big: How much sense does it make to have an NFT- a decentralized contract, but then the content is stored centralized? It makes no sense. If that content gets pulled off the grid, censored, or goes offline because someone didn’t pay a bill, then your NFT will be just an empty shell. Advanced, but empty.

This is what we offer with Etho protocol: Everything on one chain, tightly crafted and integrated.

Streets and cars

Back at the ETHO headquarters, James and the ETHO black team are sitting in the conference room to discuss the next steps. James looks out through the window focusing on the street. “Ethan, have you heard about Daimler Benz, the asphalt company?” Ethan looks at Legacy. “you are the German here…”, Legacy shakes his head: “Noo…”.

“See, that is what I mean,” James continues.

Dylie and Exlo exchange glances with each other. “Are you okay, James?”.

“We are building the streets with Etho protocol. We have this fresh and advanced motorway, we need to get cars on it.”, James continued, looking into the round.

“We aren’t car builders, but I could try”, Ethan suggested.

“Maybe we could, but realistically the fancy cars should be built by others,” suggested Legacy, “…you know, the Lambos and BMWs of the world.”

What does Etho protocol have to offer?

IPFS storage solution

ETHO has a rock-solid IPFS implementation which allows other companies easily to integrate the solution via an SDK. The SDK is very simple to use and is published at: https://www.npmjs.com/package/@ethofs/sdk

A simple piece of code to upload data onto the IPFS would look like this:

const fs = require('fs');
const readableStreamForFile = fs.createReadStream('./yourfile.png');
const options = {
ethofsData: {
name: 'MyCustomUploadName',
keyvalues: {
customKey: 'customValue',
customKey2: 'customValue2'
}
},
ethofsOptions: {
hostingContractDuration: 100000
}
};
ethofs.pinFileToIPFS(readableStreamForFile, options).then((result) => {
//handle results here
console.log(result);
}).catch((err) => {
//handle error here
console.log(err);
});

EVM contracts

Another strength of Etho protocol is the combination of IPFS and solidity contracts. This means that you can now build anything ETH based on top of a data storage solution. You can create NFTs, tokens, etc., you name it.

Etho protocol network

You can track the Etho protocol network state on our dashboards: https://info.ethoprotocol.com. Currently, the network consists of 630+ nodes.

Open for business

With the solution and tools in place, we will be looking at partners who want to facilitate our solution. The first one has been HUP.Life, who want to use our platform as storage.
